Departure at 5:30 Uvita, we take a first bus and then a second and here we arrived after 5 hours in Puerto Jiménez.
We stay in a hotel in the city center on the advice of our guide Felix.
Precisely, around 11 am Felix has come forward and give us advice on the preparations for our tour.
So we will then do the shopping for 3 days and 2 nights shipping.
We prepare backpacks because we will leave the suitcases in the mother’s house of Felix as we must travel as light as possible.
The next morning, Felix picks us up at 6 am and go to 2:00 4X4 to reach Carate, where the trail ends.
We then walk 3.5 km trail in the forest half half on the beach.
It is already very hot, over 35 degrees and the humidity is 100% moisture between the forest and the coming waves.
After a little less than an hour, here we arrived at our camp, at the entrance of Corcovado park side is La Leona.
The camp is located on the beach, we will sleep in a camp between the jungle and the sea in front of a small river.
The place is absolutely wonderful, looks like the end of the world, a huge deserted beach, where only traces of green turtles that spawned the eve show a presence.
The time to ask our business to take only what is necessary and we are off to our first day in Corcovado park.
Felix gives us instructions, the main, do not touch anything, any trees that could hide a snake or a spider or animals, many of which are fatal.
After a few hundred meters, we make our first meeting, a group of twenty coatis passing a few centimeters from us. Magic moments.
Then we see an anteater .
Of course, our path is cradled by the cries of scarlet macaws above our heads.

Felix then we stopped next to a termite hill perched in a tree, just scrape the top to take some termites and we make the taste.
Well it’s very good, a little peppery taste that is full of protein, Jade was the first to try, only Andrea has not tasted.

A little further, we stop at the edge of the madrigal river where a 2.5m crocodile basks along the river, good will also require you cross this river.
We see a little further traces of tapir that we will not see unfortunately.

During the break we see a two whales off.
The girls then bathe in the river a few meters from crocodile and play with this the bernard hermit thousands.

We are completely jetlaged, must say we are up since 5 am, we walked 15 km in 35 degrees and a humidity stifling, and it is full dark night at 18 pm. So after eating, 19 hours, I collapsed and I fell asleep. When Felix picks us to go see the turtles on the beach at 21 am, we all sleep, it’s gone off for tomorrow.

The next day, standing 5 pm, the time to admire a beautiful sunrise, a good breakfast and off we went for 16 km walk in the day, at the beginning we have less luck, some animals, still unlucky with the tapir, but only fresh tracks in sight.

Crossing the Madrigal river we see again the crocodile on the shore.

The scenery is breathtaking.

Next we come to the end of the road, after being only accessible at low tide the beach.
Now there is more to turn around.

The girls were incredibly courageous today as the walk was really difficult.

On the way back, Andrea asks Felix to open another coconut.

In the evening, after eating, we go for a walk by the light of headlamps to try to find snakes in the garden, but nothing of the blow we go until the turtles. girls fall asleep, we struggle not to do the same, around 21 pm, Felix arrived with a small snake in hand to make us feel, good Andréa does not wake up and Jade does not want to touch it.

IMG_8089

Finally, I leave alone with Jade see green turtles lay eggs, we are lucky we see five green turtles up the beach and lay their eggs, we go after one hour exhausted.

Already the last day, the wake up is still magical, with the sound of howler monkeys and scarlet macaws, an empty huge beach, rolls of 3-4 meters crashing a few meters.

Here we go in the primary forest, we stop eating fresh cocoa, Felix shows an acacia that as soon as one touches dozens of ants out of the branches of the acacia to protect him, although these ants are fatal bites cause death by suffocation.

Felix then grabs a small lizard to finally put it on jade that keeps so few hundred meters on his T shirt.

It is already the end of our stay at the camp, we have not seen or cougar or the tapir, but we leave with the feeling of having been very privileged to spend time in this nature almost intact.

We take the road back towards carate, girls have more difficulty, it’s normal after more than 30 km in 2 days and very early morning sunrises.
We take the car to stop half way, there one goes up the flow of a river to go to a beautiful waterfall.

On the way back, we cross a baby whale stranded on the beach, very sad !!

IMG_8169

We then returned to Puerto Jimenez we leave our guide Felix who was really very good and very helpful with the girls.
